Mix with the animals in the paddocks and admire the different colours and the playful young ones (crias). Visitors will be able to feed the alpacas – they will come right up to you and feed from your hand. Touch and stroke the alpacas and take plenty of selfies.
Hold and cuddle a baby and feel the incredibly soft fibre of the alpaca. For those with plenty of time, lead an alpaca up and down the laneway.
Alpacas are naturally inquisitive and friendly and respond to kindness. Noise and sudden movements will distract them. There are just 40,000 alpacas compared to 28,000,000 sheep in New Zealand – they are a rare animal and very attractive and seductive.
Your guide will provide a commentary about the life of the alpaca and answer any questions.
During the tour, visitors will be taken to our display room where you can see many of the ribbons and trophies that Silverstream animals have won over the last twenty years.
Alpaca yarn and alpaca garments made from our own Silverstream animals are available for sale at wholesale prices.
